Are sub tanks better than having you suspension revalved and re sprung by a suspension guy?

No. There is nothing that compares to having your suspension set up right for your riding by a professional. But they are a great addition to having your bike revalved and add another dimension of tuning to your forks. They give your forks a greater tuning range for very different conditions. Such as using the same bike for MX and trail riding. If your bike is valved a little on the stiff side Infinity Sub-Tanks will take the edge off of small stuff and make rocks, roots and holes go away.

What if I have stock suspension?

Subtanks are a great suspension mod to a stock bike. For trail riding they might be the only mod you need to get the plush feeling you want. But they are not a solution for having the wrong springs on your fork or shock. If you are a 21o lbs with stock springs they will make your problems worse. But on the flip side if you are 130 lbs they could make your bike more livable without getting new springs.

Why do I need to drill and tap my fork caps for a larger fitting? Isn't there an adapter for my stock bleed hole?

We could manufacture adapters for stock bleed holes but at Infinity we feel this is a big compromise to the performance of the system. The small effort it takes to drill and tap your caps pays off in a big way with increased performance and adjustability.

Taping your caps to the larger 1/8 NPT fitting has 2 benefits. First, airflow is what make the tanks work. The stock air bleed hole on most Japanese bikes is 5mm, KTM's and other Eurobikes the screw is 4mm. These fittings are really small and only allow for a very small hole through them. (about 1/32 of an inch) This does not flow much air and defeats the purpose of the control valves. It also is equally restrictive on the rebound stroke. This limits the ability of air to go back your fork and equalize pressure again. It also restricts the draining oil from the tanks. Larger fittings solve both of these problems.

The second benefit of the larger fittings is they are very strong. Small fittings are easy to break off in your fork cap.

After I tap my caps what if I want to sell my bike and keep my Infinity Subtanks for my new bike?

You have 2 options. You can purchase a set of air bleeds from Infinity Machine and Design and install them in your caps for the new owner. These are the same high quality air bleeds used on the Subtanks themselves. These are also a stronger option than the standard air bleed kits on the market for the stock air bleed holes.

Or you can just install a 1/8 NPT pipe plug. This is available from a hardware store.
